Technological advancements continue to drive down renewable energy prices, often making electricity generated from clean sources, 比如太阳能和风能, cheaper than from fossil fuels. Renewable energy powers economies while opening markets to private investment, combating the climate crisis, and creating local jobs, often in rural and remote areas where industry and employment may be scarce.
Tetra Tech helps governments accelerate the clean energy transition and meet their national climate commitments through the Scaling Up Renewable 能源 (SURE) 程序, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

During SURE’s first phase from 2017 to 2021, Tetra Tech worked in 31 countries in Africa, 亚洲, 欧洲, and Latin America to deliver strategic energy planning, renewable energy auction design and implementation, renewable energy 网格集成, and gender equality interventions at energy utilities through USAID’s 产生的行业 程序.
With support from Tetra Tech through SURE, the Government of Colombia 采购d 2,170 megawatts (MW) of new wind and solar power that will reduce emissions by more than 9 million tons CO2 等价(tCO2E)，吸引大约2美元.1 billion in private investment, and diversify the country’s energy mix to make the power system more resilient to climate change.
Drawing from global best practices on system-friendly competitive bidding provided by Tetra Tech, the Government of India 采购d 6.6 GW of clean electricity through first-of-kind tenders that will power the grid 24 hours a day using a combination of renewable technologies and battery storage. The projects are expected to bring over $3 billion in investment.

In concert with USAID’s Power the Future 程序, SURE supported renewable energy auctions in Kazakhstan by establishing the legal and financial prequalification requirements for the bidding process. In 2018 the Government of Kazakhstan hosted its first auction and added more than 1,000 MW of renewable energy, with bid prices up to 64 percent below previous renewable tariff ceilings.
Tetra Tech developed the USAID Renewable 能源 Auctions Toolkit, a gateway to USAID technical resources that policymakers, international development professionals, and energy stakeholders can use to design and implement successful renewable energy auctions. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tetra Tech also developed the USAID Powering 健康 Toolkit, a timely resource that helps health centers design, 采购, and install reliable energy systems that power life-saving technologies.
Tetra Tech is now implementing the second phase of SURE, which continues through 2024 and will include an emphasis on climate change mitigation and resilience services and circular economy strategies for renewable energy technologies.
